African Nations Strengthen Ties with Türkiye Amid Regional Tensions
During the recent Third Ministerial Review Conference of the Turkey-Africa Partnership held in Djibouti, African nations reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation with Türkiye. The conference, which took place over the weekend, featured Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan alongside various African counterparts, including Mahmoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti and Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug of Mauritania. The discussions centered around deepening bilateral relations and addressing the escalating Israeli aggression in Palestine.
The Mauritanian Foreign Minister emphasized the necessity of solidarity and coordination among African nations to overcome existing challenges. He highlighted the significance of the partnership with Türkiye, particularly in light of the ongoing conflict in Gaza, which underscores the need for a unified response to international injustices.
Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, noted the progress made in key areas such as infrastructure, education, health, and security. He expressed concern over the violations of international law and human rights, particularly in Gaza, describing the current global landscape as unjust, especially for African nations.
Djibouti's Foreign Minister, Youssouf, underscored the importance of the conference in fostering improved relations between Türkiye and African countries, marking a pivotal moment for regional collaboration.
