Former Premier League Player Hwang Ui-Jo Faces Prison for Illegal Filming
Hwang Ui-Jo, a former Premier League player and South Korean international, has publicly apologized after being accused of secretly filming sexual encounters without the consent of his partners. The 31-year-old striker, who currently plays for Alanyaspor in Turkey, appeared in a Seoul court on October 16, 2024, where the prosecution requested a four-year prison sentence. This case has drawn significant media attention, particularly following Hwang's earlier legal battle with his sister-in-law who shared his intimate videos on social media.
The incidents reportedly occurred between June and September 2022, involving two former partners filmed on four separate occasions. Hwang's legal troubles escalated when he filed a complaint against his sister-in-law for blackmail after she shared the videos online. She was sentenced to three years in prison in September for her actions. However, during the investigation, evidence surfaced indicating that Hwang had filmed the encounters illegally. In court, he pleaded guilty and expressed remorse, stating, "I will not do anything wrong in the future and will do my best as a footballer." The court has set a sentencing date for December 18, 2024.
