Hezbollah's Missile Activity and Israeli Response
Military expert Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi has provided insights into the current military dynamics between Hezbollah and Israel. According to Al-Duwairi, while the number of missiles launched by Hezbollah towards Israel is significant, it remains below the maximum threshold of their capabilities. This assessment comes in the wake of escalating tensions and military actions in the region, particularly following the assassination of Hezbollah's Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah. Al-Duwairi noted that the dynamics of retaliation have shifted, with Hezbollah responding to Israeli strikes with increased missile attacks, including a recent significant strike on Haifa.
Al-Duwairi elaborated that the strategic exchange proposed by Nasrallah, where attacks on Tel Aviv would correlate with retaliatory strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs, has influenced the current military engagements. He emphasized that Israel has executed targeted assassinations of key Hezbollah leaders and has intensified its military operations in southern Lebanon, leading to a displacement crisis in the affected areas.
The military expert highlighted that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are currently conducting ground reconnaissance operations deep within Lebanese territory, aiming to identify vulnerabilities in Hezbollah's defenses. He pointed out that these areas are fortified by Hezbollah's Radwan Force, an elite unit designed for rapid response and defense.
In light of the ongoing conflict, Al-Duwairi believes that the Israeli military is cautious, learning from past engagements in southern Lebanon, and is taking calculated steps to avoid significant casualties and equipment losses. He concluded that the IDF is focused on neutralizing Hezbollah's combat capabilities while closely monitoring the evolving situation. This ongoing military tension raises questions about the future stability of the region and the potential for further escalations.
