Hezbollah Intensifies Attacks on Israel Amid Ongoing Conflict
Hezbollah has escalated its military operations against Israel, targeting multiple settlements and military sites in northern Israel. The Lebanese militant group confirmed that it launched rockets and artillery at five settlements, an army base, and a military site, marking a significant response to the ongoing violence in the region. This escalation comes on the sixth day of intensified Israeli attacks on Lebanon, following the assassination of its Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, in an Israeli raid on southern Beirut.
In a statement, Hezbollah pledged to continue its fight against what it refers to as the enemy, emphasizing its commitment to supporting Gaza and defending Lebanon. The group declared that its actions are in solidarity with the Palestinian people and a response to the Israeli military's aggressive incursions into Lebanese territory. Hezbollah's use of the newly introduced Fadi missiles, which are designed to strike wide areas rather than specific targets, underscores the group's strategic shift in its military capabilities.
In response to these attacks, the Israeli military reported intercepting missiles launched from Lebanon, indicating a rising tension along the border. Sirens were activated in various Israeli regions, including Haifa and the northern West Bank, reflecting the ongoing threat posed by Hezbollah's missile strikes. This situation marks a significant escalation in hostilities that have resulted in numerous casualties on both sides since the conflict reignited in early October.
The recent violence has led to a devastating toll on civilians, with reports indicating over 783 deaths in Lebanon due to Israeli airstrikes since the conflict began. The humanitarian crisis continues to deepen as the region faces severe destruction and displacement, with calls for an end to the violence growing louder amid the ongoing hostilities.
