Hezbollah's Escalating Confrontation with Israel
According to military expert Brigadier General Hassan Jouni, Hezbollah has entered a new phase of military confrontation with Israel, marking a significant escalation in their ongoing conflict. Jouni emphasizes that this new phase is not the final stage and does not reflect the full extent of Hezbollah's military capabilities. The recent operations are part of the 'Khaybar' series, which indicates a strategic evolution in Hezbollah's military tactics.
Jouni elaborates that this phase involves targeting new locations and deploying advanced missile technology, which includes air, sea, and land targets. The operational range has notably expanded, with Hezbollah capable of striking targets up to 150 kilometers away, as demonstrated by their recent attack on the Mallam military factory located south of Tel Aviv. This development sends a clear strategic message, indicating that numerous locations within this range may be at risk in future operations.
The expert also addressed the current diplomatic landscape, noting Israeli reports suggesting a potential end to ground operations and the possibility of a settlement with Lebanon. However, Jouni expressed skepticism about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's track record in diplomatic negotiations, particularly regarding the Gaza Strip, which raises doubts about the likelihood of a swift resolution.
In summary, Jouni warns that Hezbollah's displayed military capabilities may only be a fraction of what they possess, suggesting that further escalations in the conflict could be anticipated.
