Investigation Reveals Hamas Direction in Tel Aviv Suicide Attack

The suicide attack that occurred in Tel Aviv on August 18, 2024, has been traced back to the Hamas headquarters in Turkey, according to a joint investigation by the Israel Police and the Shin Bet. The attack, which took place on HaLahi Street, resulted in moderate injuries to a passerby and caused significant damage to nearby buildings. The perpetrator, identified as Jaafar Muna, a Hamas operative from Nablus, was killed during the explosion.

Arrests and Indictments Following the Attack

Following the investigation, eight suspects have been arrested and are expected to face serious indictments for their roles in the attack. These individuals were part of a Hamas infrastructure operating from the Nablus area, which had been instructed by senior members of Hamas in Turkey to execute attacks within Israel. The investigation uncovered two ready-to-use explosive devices and a significant amount of money, approximately NIS 111,000, that had been transferred from the Hamas headquarters to finance the operations.

Links to Hamas Headquarters in Turkey

The investigation revealed that one of the suspects had traveled multiple times to Turkey, where he received training on assembling explosive devices and direct instructions from the Hamas network. Abada Belal, a senior member of Hamas based in Turkey, was reportedly in contact with the Nablus operatives, guiding them in their planning and execution of attacks. The coordinated efforts of the Israeli authorities have led to a deeper understanding of the operational links between local Hamas operatives and their leadership abroad.
