Emergency evacuations and drone attacks have disrupted life in the Tver region, highlighting rising tensions as authorities respond to aerial threats and ensure public safety.

Tver Region Faces UAV Attacks and Railway Evacuations

On the night of September 21, significant incidents unfolded in the Tver region of Russia, leading to emergency evacuations and disruptions in railway services. The October Railway press service reported that at 02:42 AM, passengers and staff were evacuated from the Staraya Toropa railway station due to an unspecified incident. Fortunately, preliminary reports indicated no casualties or infrastructure damage. However, this incident necessitated changes to train schedules affecting key routes including Moscow-Pskov and St. Petersburg-Smolensk, with Russian Railways working diligently to minimize delays.

In a related development, the Russian Road Administration announced a temporary closure of traffic on the M-9 “Baltia” highway in the Tver region. This closure coincided with reports from Governor Igor Rudenya about the downing of UAVs by the Russian Ministry of Defense in the southwest of the region, highlighting a surge in aerial threats.

Increased Drone Activity and Regional Safety Measures

The situation escalated with the announcement from Krasnodar Krai authorities regarding the interception of two Ukrainian drones in the Tikhoretsk District. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev confirmed that debris from one of the drones caused a fire, prompting the evacuation of nearby residents for safety. A temporary accommodation point was established to assist those displaced by the incident. The operational headquarters in Krasnodar emphasized the importance of not sharing footage of drone activities, warning that such actions could compromise military positions and public safety.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that overnight, a large-scale UAV attack was launched by Ukrainian forces, resulting in the destruction and interception of 101 drones across various regions, including Tver and Krasnodar. This marked a continuation of hostilities that recently saw the city of Toropets in the Tver region subjected to a massive UAV attack on September 18, resulting in fires and injuries to 13 individuals. Emergency measures, including evacuations and infrastructure repairs, were swiftly implemented to ensure the safety and recovery of affected residents. The Tver region continues to navigate these challenges as local authorities remain vigilant against further threats.
