Egypt Denies Involvement in Sudanese Conflict
Egypt has firmly rejected accusations made by Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemeti, regarding alleged airstrikes on his forces in the Jebel Moya area of Sennar State. In a statement released by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government clarified that the Egyptian army is not involved in the ongoing battles in Sudan. The ministry urged the international community to provide evidence supporting Hemeti's claims, emphasizing that the allegations arise amid Egypt's efforts to mediate peace and enhance humanitarian responses for those affected by the conflict.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry reiterated its commitment to the security, stability, and unity of Sudan, stating that it will continue to support the country in addressing the severe impacts of the war. Hemeti, in a video statement, accused Egyptian aircraft of launching attacks on his forces, claiming that the bombs used were American-made. He further alleged that Egypt has been training the Sudanese army and supplying it with drones during the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF.
Despite these tensions, the Sudanese army announced on Saturday that it had regained control of the Jebel Moya area after intense fighting. Hemeti addressed his troops, asserting their resilience and vowing to reclaim lost territory despite the challenges posed by superior military technology and numbers.
