Cyril Hanouna's Commitment to Canal+ Group
Cyril Hanouna, the popular host of "Touche pas à mon poste" (TPMP), has reassured fans and colleagues that he will remain with the Canal+ group while working on an ambitious multimedia offering. During his show on Thursday, Hanouna stated, "We are in the Canal group, we are staying in the Canal group," emphasizing his ongoing collaboration to develop a comprehensive media platform that will include television, a digital platform, as well as digital and print press. He pledged that this new venture would be ready by March.
Challenges Ahead for C8 Channel
The announcement comes amid significant challenges for the C8 channel, which is part of the Canal+ group. The channel is set to cease broadcasting on February 28, 2025, following a decision by the audiovisual regulator, Arcom, which excluded it from the renewal of TNT (digital terrestrial television) frequencies. The Canal+ group, owned by conservative billionaire Vincent Bolloré and part of Vivendi, has challenged this decision in the Council of State, with a ruling expected in November. Hanouna described the situation as "thorny," acknowledging the contentious nature of the discussions surrounding the future of the channel.
Hanouna's Priorities and Future Plans
In previous statements, Hanouna has reiterated his commitment to his team and the continuation of his daily show, whether live or slightly delayed. He expressed a strong desire to retain all staff members involved with his program, highlighting the importance of their work in the face of potential changes. "My priority is to keep all the people who work alongside me," he said. As the situation unfolds, Hanouna's plans for a multimedia expansion reflect both his adaptability and the evolving landscape of media consumption.
