Release Dates of Award-winning Cannes Films Revealed

Unlike festival-goers on the Croisette, the general public will need patience to watch the award-winning films from the Cannes Film Festival. As opposed to the Oscars and the Césars that celebrate films already released, Cannes maintains the premiere of its selected films. Some productions have already been shown during the festival fortnight, while others are scheduled for later release dates.

Three feature films were accessible during the festival: Marcello Mio by Christophe Honoré, The Second Act by Quentin Dupieux, and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga by George Miller. The public can expect several other releases starting from June, including Appointment with Pol Pot on June 5 and C'est pas moi on June 12. One of the most anticipated, Kinds of Kindness by Yorgos Lanthimos, starring Jesse Plemons, will release on June 26.

Upcoming Major Releases

Following June, audiences can look forward to a plethora of exciting releases. The Count of Monte Cristo by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière will debut on June 28. July brings Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga, Chapter 1 on July 3. Later in the summer, on August 28, Jacques Audiard's musical comedy Emilia Perez, which bagged the jury prize and female performance prize collectively, will hit the theaters.

The fall will witness the release of more award-winning films. The Trial of the Dog by Laetitia Dosch, which won the Palm Dog award, will be screened starting September 11. Another noteworthy film, All We Imagine as Light by Sean Baker, the winner of the Grand Prize, is set for an October 2 release. The French surprise Rough Diamond by Agathe Riedinger arrives on October 9, while L'Amour ouf by Gilles Lellouche will be available on October 16. Lastly, the animated feature The Most Precious of Goods by Michel Hazanavicius is scheduled for November 20.

In addition to these exciting releases, the cinema experience in Paris and other regions will offer numerous previews and special sessions for festival buffs who cannot wait for official release dates. Previews of films from the Filmmakers' Fortnight will be shown at various venues, with special tributes and screenings enhancing the experience.

  • While the official film releases are eagerly awaited, dozens of previews are being organized. For example, the MK2 Library invites you to discover *An Unfinished Film* by Ye Lou and *Live, Die and Reborn* by Gaël Morel.
  • Fans will also get an early chance to watch *All We Imagine as Light* at the UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles, well before its official release date. Further, the whole selection from the Filmmakers' Fortnight will be presented by the Forum des Images in Paris between June 5 to 16.
  • To honor Sophie Fillières's latest film *Ma vie ma bouche*, the opening evening will include a gathering with her close ones, celebrating the filmmaker's contributions and her unique body of work.
