Instasamka's Potential Role as New Vocalist for Leningrad
The popular Russian music group "Leningrad" may have found its new vocalist in singer and blogger Instasamka, whose real name is Daria Zoteeva. Reports from the Telegram channel Mash indicate that negotiations between Instasamka and the group's leader, Sergey Shnurov, are underway, with plans to release at least one joint album. This collaboration would mark the first full-length music collection from Leningrad since their 2018 album "Vsyakoe."
Following a recent divorce, Shnurov is reportedly looking to revitalize his music career, and teaming up with Instasamka is seen as a strategy to garner public interest. Dmitry Guguchkin, the concert director for Leningrad, confirmed that discussions are happening but emphasized that no final decision has been made about Instasamka becoming the permanent vocalist. A demo clip of their collaboration has already surfaced online, featuring lyrics that reflect their financial success, resonating with Instasamka's previous works.
The Legacy of Leningrad and Instasamka's Controversial Image
Founded in 1997, Leningrad has a rich history of blending various musical styles, including chanson, ska, and folk, which contributed to their widespread popularity across Russia. Shnurov, who initially served as the group's bass guitarist, took over as the lead vocalist after Igor Vdovin's departure. The band has a history of collaborating with different vocalists, and their lineup saw changes as recently as 2020.
Instasamka, known for her bold and often controversial persona, has been working to distance herself from past scandals. She has publicly denied allegations of promoting drug use, asserting her commitment to creating positive music. Producer Iosif Prigozhin commented on Shnurov's talent, acknowledging his ability to connect with audiences while also noting the divide between commercial success and artistic integrity in the music industry.
