The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that nearly 4,000 Israelis stranded abroad have reached out to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tel Aviv for assistance in returning home. This situation arises amid escalating security tensions in the region, leading to the cancellation of flights by numerous international airlines. As a result, an estimated 150,000 Israelis find themselves unable to return to Israel, with 15 international airlines ceasing operations to and from Tel Aviv since last Monday.
In light of these developments, many stranded Israelis are seeking legal advice on their rights regarding canceled flights. According to attorney Shirley Katzir, passengers whose flights are canceled are entitled to various benefits, including accommodation, food, and the option for reimbursement or alternative flights. However, the tense security situation may complicate these arrangements, and travelers are advised to stay updated on available flights operated by both Israeli and foreign airlines.
The ongoing conflict in Gaza has resulted in significant casualties, with reports indicating over 130,000 victims, including many women and children. The Israeli government has heightened its state of alert, anticipating potential retaliatory actions from Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah following the recent assassinations of key figures in these organizations. Amidst this turmoil, many Israelis abroad are left in a precarious situation, desperately trying to navigate their return home.
