Almost 80% of Russians trust President Vladimir Putin, according to a recent survey by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM). The survey revealed that 78.7% of respondents expressed confidence in Putin, while 16.9% indicated distrust. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin also enjoys significant trust, with 61.1% approval, followed by other political leaders such as Sergei Mironov and Gennady Zyuganov, who received 30.3% and 29.4% trust ratings, respectively.
The approval rating for Putin's performance stands at 75.7%, with 14.7% of respondents disapproving. Mishustin's performance garnered a positive rating from 52.6% of participants, while the government's overall approval was at 50.1%. The ruling party, United Russia, saw a slight increase in support to 35.5%.
The Public Opinion Foundation corroborated these findings, noting a slight decrease in trust for Putin to around 80%, with 81% of respondents positively assessing his work. The level of distrust has remained stable at 10% for four consecutive weeks, indicating a consistent perception among the populace.
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the president, emphasized that Putin's high support is attributed to his daily hard work and responsibilities. He dismissed the need to compare Putin's ratings with those of Western politicians, asserting that such ratings do not influence Putin's activities. Following his re-election in March, where he secured 87.28% of the votes, Putin expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and committed to justifying it through dedicated service.
