Just three months before the scheduled date for the elections in Venezuela, Edmundo González Urrutia received an assignment that he never sought: to be the candidate of the main opposition coalition that seeks to remove Nicolás Maduro from power, after 25 years of Chavista governments.
Since then, he has walked hand in hand with María Corina Machado at campaign events throughout the country. The popular opposition leader who carried as her banner the desires for change of her followers since she won the opposition primaries in October of last year.
González Urrutia is a career Venezuelan diplomat, international analyst, he was a member of the international editorial board of the newspaper El Nacional and was part of the Democratic Unity Roundtable, the alliance that brought together the most important opposition parties before the formation of the PUD, as president of its board of directors.
