Smoke rises from a fire following an Israeli air strike in Hodeidah, Yemen. Media outlets affiliated with the Ansar Allah group (Houthis) reported that new American and British bombing targeted the Red Sea governorate of Hodeidah in western Yemen, after a hiatus of about half a month. Al-Masirah TV, affiliated with the Houthis, stated that the US-British aggression specifically targeted Al-Tuhayta District in Al-Hodeidah Governorate. The channel did not provide further details about the results of the bombing, while no immediate comment was issued from Washington and London regarding the strikes. This bombing follows a cessation of US-British raids in Yemen since November 28, 2023. Hodeidah is a crucial Yemeni governorate, housing an international airport, three vital ports, and military camps, alongside a long coastal strip. In solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which is facing severe attacks, the Houthis have been targeting Israeli or Israeli-linked cargo ships in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean with missiles and drones, including operations directed at Tel Aviv. Since the beginning of 2024, a US-led coalition has been conducting raids aimed at Houthi sites across Yemen in response to their naval attacks. Following the intervention of Washington and London in January, the Houthi group declared that all American and British ships are now considered military targets. The ongoing conflict in Gaza, which escalated on October 7, 2023, has resulted in over 151,000 Palestinian casualties, predominantly affecting children and women, alongside widespread destruction and famine.
