Houthis Launch Drone Attacks on Israel Amid Ongoing Conflict
The Houthi group, also known as Ansar Allah, has announced the execution of three drone attacks targeting northern and southern Israel within the last 48 hours. According to Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree, these operations were conducted in collaboration with the Islamic Resistance in Iraq. In a televised statement, Saree detailed that two of the drone strikes were aimed at unspecified targets in northern Israel, while the third operation focused on a vital target in the Eilat region along the Red Sea. The spokesman claimed that all three operations successfully achieved their intended objectives.
The Houthis have intensified their military actions in solidarity with Gaza, which is currently experiencing severe conflict with Israel, supported by the United States. In addition to targeting Israeli land, the group has also been attacking Israeli-linked cargo ships in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean using missiles and drones. This escalation follows their initial drone and missile operation against Israel on October 31, 2023, with subsequent claims of targeting various sites in Israel, including Tel Aviv.
As tensions rise, the Houthis have declared that they will continue their military responses until the Israeli aggression against Gaza ceases and the blockade on the region is lifted. In response to the Houthi attacks, a US-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in Yemen, a move that has further escalated the conflict. The Houthis have also stated that they now consider all American and British vessels as military targets due to the involvement of these nations in the ongoing hostilities.
