UN Report Accuses Israel of War Crimes in Gaza
The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry has accused Israel of committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, and gross human rights violations in the occupied Palestinian territories. According to Navi Pillay, head of the commission, Israel is responsible for killings, forced displacement, starvation, and sexual violence against Palestinians. The report highlights that the Israeli army has deliberately targeted civilians in densely populated areas, obstructing access to basic necessities and using civilians as tools of war.
Civilian Casualties and Infrastructure Destruction
The report underscores the massive civilian casualties and destruction of infrastructure in Gaza, attributing it to an intentional policy by Israel. Since October 7, 2023, over 122,000 Palestinians have been killed or injured, most of them children and women.
