Ugo Humbert Advances to Semi-Finals at Rolex Paris Masters
French tennis player Ugo Humbert made history by reaching his first semi-final at a Masters 1000 event at the Rolex Paris Masters. Ranked 18th in the world, Humbert triumphed over Australian Jordan Thompson, who is 28th, with a score of 6-2, 7-6 (7/4). This victory marks a significant achievement for the 26-year-old, as he becomes the first Frenchman to reach the semi-finals of a Masters 1000 tournament since Richard Gasquet in 2019.
In the semi-finals, Humbert is set to face either Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, ranked 9th, or Russian Karen Khachanov, ranked 21st, who are competing later on Friday evening.
Alexander Zverev Secures Spot in Semi-Finals
In other quarter-final action, German player Alexander Zverev, the third seed, defeated Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4. Zverev's effective first serve played a crucial role in his victory, achieving 70% success on first serves and winning 79% of points on those serves. This win allows Zverev to advance to the semi-finals for the third time in his career at this event, having previously reached the final in 2020 and the semi-final in 2021.
Zverev will await the winner of the match between Danish player Holger Rune and Australian Alex de Minaur. With this win, Zverev remains in contention for his seventh Masters 1000 title, having previously won in Madrid, Rome, Canada, and Cincinnati.
