New Urban Development Plan in K'neam: A Boon for Housing Supply
The National Committee for the Planning and Construction of Preferred Housing Complexes has announced a significant urban development plan in K'neam, aimed at addressing the pressing housing needs in the area. The plan will cover approximately 660 dunams, facilitating the construction of about 3,300 new housing units. This diverse mix will include small, medium, and large apartments, alongside garden and roof apartments, catering to a variety of population groups. Additionally, the project will incorporate commercial and employment spaces, enhancing the local economy.
Enhancing Accessibility and Sustainability
This ambitious plan not only focuses on expanding housing but also emphasizes sustainable traffic-oriented planning. The initiative aims to improve traffic accessibility to neighboring settlements and employment zones while promoting public transportation and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure. The Chairman of the National Planning Headquarters, Rabbi Natan Alantan, highlighted the importance of this development, stating it will significantly increase the housing supply in a region currently undergoing renewal.
Holzkirchen's New Construction Yard: Adapting to Local Needs
In a separate development, the market town of Holzkirchen is progressing with its new construction yard, which will now feature three apartments reserved for municipal staff. Originally designed to have two large apartments, the local council has approved a change to include three smaller units to better accommodate the needs of the workforce. Mayor Christoph Schmid emphasized that these company apartments are intended solely for employees of the municipal building yard, ensuring they are not burdened with high rental costs. The project, which began in March 2023, is expected to be completed by the first or second quarter of 2025, with total costs estimated at 27 million euros.
- The development in K'neam is part of a broader initiative by the Ministry of Construction and Housing to address housing shortages in northern Israel. With a focus on creating a quality living environment, the plan aims to attract a young and dynamic population by offering modern amenities and easy access to transportation routes. The incorporation of natural parks and green spaces further enhances the appeal of the new neighborhood. In Holzkirchen, the construction yard project represents a strategic move to consolidate municipal operations into a single location, improving efficiency and service delivery. The construction site is designed to meet high energy standards, receiving federal funding to support its sustainable development goals. Despite minor delays, the town hall remains committed to completing the project within budget and on time.
