Arrest of Teenagers in Courbevoie on Charges of Aggravated Rape and Anti-Semitic Hate Crimes
In a chilling case, three teenagers aged 12 and 13 have been arrested by the Hauts-de-Seine territorial family protection brigade following the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl in Courbevoie. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, June 15, when the young victim was assaulted in Henri Regnault Park while with a friend. According to her statements, she was dragged into an abandoned shed, beaten, and forced into vaginal and anal penetration as well as fellatio. Disturbingly, the attackers also made death threats and anti-Semitic remarks.
The case has shocked the local community, emphasizing the very young age of both the suspects and the victim. Once the attackers left, the girl, accompanied by her friend who managed to describe two of the suspects, reported the incident to the police. She was subsequently taken to the Garches medical-judicial unit for examination and evidence collection.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Following the complaint, the Nanterre public prosecutor's office swiftly opened an investigation, leading to the arrest of the three young suspects from Rueil-Malmaison. They were detained and are now awaiting presentation to an investigating judge. During police hearings, the minors admitted to the assault, citing revenge motives. One of the assailants, who was the victim's ex-boyfriend, expressed anger over her concealing her Jewish identity. Investigators also discovered anti-Semitic content on his cell phone, including comments and images of a burned Israeli flag.
The Nanterre public prosecutor's office has confirmed that the three suspects are facing charges of aggravated rape, aggravated sexual assault, attempted extortion, invasion of privacy, death threats, and aggravated violence and insults. The last two charges are particularly severe due to the anti-Semitic nature of the crime. The prosecution has requested their placement in custody as investigations continue.
- Gynecological examinations at the Garches medical-judicial center have confirmed the rape of the young victim. The minors' statements point towards premeditated actions driven by religious animosity, highlighting the serious nature of this assault.
- This incident has prompted renewed calls for addressing anti-Semitism and ensuring rigorous protection measures for minors. The local authorities are under pressure to act swiftly and decisively to prevent similar incidents in the future.
