Young Driver's Dangerous Mistake Leads to Police Intervention

In a surprising incident in Beauvais, France, a police patrol encountered a 16-year-old girl driving without a license on Monday, September 23. The officers noticed the vehicle in front of them stalling at a red light multiple times. Curious about the situation, they approached the car, only to find the young driver switching places with her friend in the back seat. The girl had no formal driving education and was relying on her friend, who had only recently obtained her license, to guide her through city driving. The police took both girls to the station, impounding the vehicle for seven days and summoning the underage driver to court.

Driving License Extensions in Germany: A Quick Guide

Meanwhile, in Germany, holders of a Class B driving license can easily extend their permit without the need for additional tests. The Class B license allows individuals to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tons and is one of the most common licenses issued. Extensions include B96 and B196, which permit driving larger trailers and light motorcycles, respectively. The B196 extension, introduced in 2020, allows Class B license holders to operate motorcycles with a maximum displacement of 125 cm³ after completing a simple training course. Notably, while the B96 extension is valid throughout the EU, the B196 is only recognized within Germany.

Serious Consequences for Traffic Violations

In a more severe case, a 25-year-old man was sentenced to six years in prison for injuring a police officer during a traffic stop in Hérault, France. The driver, who was already a repeat offender, fled after refusing to comply with the gendarmerie's request to pull over. During a dangerous 21-kilometer chase, he drove recklessly, ultimately colliding with a police motorcycle and causing significant injury to the officer. The driver was arrested days later and admitted to the charges, citing fear of arrest due to having no driving license and an uninsured vehicle. This incident highlights the serious consequences that can arise from reckless driving and the importance of adhering to traffic laws.
