Syrian Network for Human Rights Publishes List of Prominent Regime Criminals
The Syrian Network for Human Rights has released a list detailing 18 individuals prominently involved in crimes committed by the former Syrian regime, topped by ousted President Bashar al-Assad. This announcement comes as part of ongoing efforts to hold accountable those responsible for human rights violations during the Syrian conflict, which began in 2011.
The list includes key figures such as former Defense Minister Ali Abdullah Ayoub and military leaders like Jamil Hassan, Suheil Hassan, and Adeeb Nimr Salameh. The organization claims to have a comprehensive database of over 16,000 individuals linked to crimes against the Syrian people, with 6,724 from official forces and 9,476 from auxiliary militias that supported the regime.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights emphasized that it possesses substantial evidence against these individuals, particularly regarding their involvement in the use of chemical weapons. The organization has been actively monitoring violations throughout the conflict and continues to publish updates on the number of victims.
Commitment to Accountability
In light of the new Syrian administration's commitment to justice, there are promises to hold accountable those involved in the torture and killing of tens of thousands of Syrians. The administration has also indicated intentions to seek the extradition of fugitive criminals residing abroad. Concurrently, UN investigators have compiled lists of 4,000 perpetrators of serious crimes in Syria, aiming to ensure accountability as the regime faces increasing scrutiny and potential collapse.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights remains steadfast in its mission to ensure that all individuals involved in violations face consequences for their actions, reinforcing the necessity for justice in the aftermath of the Syrian conflict.
