Suri Cruise Graduates High School, Drops Last Name
At just 18 years old, Suri Cruise has officially graduated from high school. This Friday, June 21, the daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise graduated from LaGuardia High School, a public high school specializing in visual and performing arts education, at the United Palace Theater in New York with her famous mother by her side.
In the photos obtained by Page Six, the young woman wore her bright red graduate gown over a white summer dress. Katie Holmes, 45, wore a pale yellow ensemble, consisting of pleated pants and a long-sleeved shirt. A few days earlier, the young woman had been photographed during her prom in a long dress with straps, flowing and printed with a multitude of patterns, characterized by a corset.
Tom Cruise Absent from Daughter's Milestone
A notable absence during this significant event was her father, Tom Cruise. Six years after her birth and after seven years of relationship, Katie Holmes filed for divorce, particularly to protect her daughter from the Church of Scientology, of which Tom Cruise is a follower. Since then, Suri Cruise has been raised by her mother and has reportedly not had contact with her father for over ten years.
On the graduation brochure, Suri Cruise also dropped her father's last name, calling herself 'Suri Noelle,' Noelle being her mother's middle name. When she turned 18 last April, she had already chosen to change her name, according to Hello magazine.
Future Plans and New Beginnings
At the same time as his daughter's graduation, the 61-year-old actor participated in Taylor Swift's concert in London. 'Even if he called her, she wouldn’t answer,' a source told the Daily Mail in April 2024. A separation which does not prevent the young woman from moving forward and charting her own path. Suri Cruise is expected to attend Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in the fall.
