Sudanese Army Gains Ground in Darfur Amid Ongoing Conflict
The Sudanese army has intensified its military operations against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Darfur, achieving significant victories in recent days. Governor Minni Arko Minawi announced that the army, alongside the "Joint Force of Armed Struggle Movements," has successfully retaken the Bir Mazza area in North Darfur. This strategic location, situated near the borders of Al-Zarq and Wadi Al-Maghrib, was liberated from RSF control, marking a notable advancement in the ongoing conflict.
In a statement on social media, Minawi expressed hope for justice and reconciliation among the people of Darfur, emphasizing the importance of unity in the region. Reports indicate that the Mado area and nearby locations around Al-Siyah have also been reclaimed by the military forces, signaling a shift in the balance of power in the region.
According to Ahmed Hussein Mustafa, the official spokesman for the joint forces, the recent battles commenced early in the morning and resulted in the elimination of a significant number of rebel fighters. The forces managed to seize 35 military vehicles in operational condition and destroyed over 20 others, showcasing their growing military capabilities. The operation extended to the Wadi Sandi area, where additional military assets were captured and destroyed, further crippling the RSF's operational capacity.
Mustafa stated that the joint forces are relentlessly pursuing the remaining RSF fighters, aiming to dismantle their defenses completely. The ongoing military campaign has seen the destruction of more than 15 military vehicles, with another 19 captured, some of which were reportedly transporting supplies and equipment. The joint forces plan to share detailed accounts of these operations with the Sudanese public through audio and video reports, enhancing transparency and communication during this tumultuous time.
These developments come on the heels of the Sudanese army's broader efforts to regain control over key areas across the nation, including Omdurman and parts of Khartoum. The conflict, which has intensified in recent months, continues to pose significant challenges for stability and peace in Sudan, as various factions vie for power and control.
