Violent Clashes Erupt in Sudan
Recent military confrontations have escalated between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) across various cities, including Khartoum, Kordofan, and Darfur. The army has initiated a military operation named "The Hunter" aimed at securing critical routes between Kosti and Al-Abyad. Reports indicate that the army successfully regained control of Al-Ghabsha in North Kordofan after intense battles, forcing RSF troops to retreat to Umm Rawaba. Meanwhile, the RSF has retaliated by bombarding army positions in El Fasher, North Darfur, leading to significant airstrikes by the army against RSF sites.
Displacement Crisis Intensifies
As violence continues, a significant influx of displaced individuals is being reported in northern Sudan. Many are fleeing from RSF-controlled areas in Al-Jazeera State, seeking refuge in regions held by the army. The city of Shendi is receiving numerous displaced persons daily, highlighting the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the country. Activists have shared videos of buses transporting displaced individuals from Kassala to Sennar, coinciding with the army's recent territorial gains.
Army Leadership on the Front Lines
In response to the ongoing conflict, Shams El Din Kabashi, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, has been actively inspecting front lines in various regions, including White Nile and Sennar. His visits aim to assess military readiness and oversee operations targeting the RSF's last strongholds. The army is reportedly preparing to launch further offensives to reclaim control over key areas, signaling an ongoing commitment to confront the RSF's influence in Sudan.
