The cartoonist and bestselling author, Riad Sattouf, has announced the launch of a new comic series titled 'Me, Fadi, the Stolen Brother.' This series, derived from his acclaimed work 'The Arab of the Future,' will delve into the life of his younger brother, Fadi. The first volume is set to release on October 8 and will cover the years from 1986 to 1994.
Fadi, who is featured in 'The Arab of the Future,' has a complex backstory. Following their father's abrupt departure to Syria, Fadi's life takes a dramatic turn, leading to a reunion with Riad in the final volume of the original series. Riad Sattouf describes this new comic strip as a decade-long project that finally gives Fadi a voice, allowing him to share his unique perspective on their childhood and family dynamics.
'The Arab of the Future' has achieved monumental success, selling 3.5 million copies globally and being translated into 23 languages. While the original series was published by Allary, 'Me, Fadi' will be released through Sattouf's own publishing house, Les Livres du futur, marking a significant step in his artistic journey.
