Military Resistance in Rafah: A Strong Response to Israeli Claims
Military and strategic expert Colonel Hatem Karim Al-Falahi has analyzed the recent resurgence of resistance operations in Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip. His insights challenge the Israeli army's assertions about the dismantling of resistance factions in this critical border city with Egypt. Al-Falahi emphasized that the operations conducted by the Al-Qassam Brigades and the Al-Quds Brigades serve as a powerful rebuttal to Israeli claims, showcasing the ongoing strength of these groups despite military pressure.
In a recent operation, the Al-Qassam Brigades targeted an Israeli D9 military bulldozer in the Al-Janina neighborhood, utilizing an Al-Yassin 105 anti-tank shell. Following this, they also engaged an Israeli troop carrier, resulting in significant casualties among the advancing forces. Similarly, the Al-Quds Brigades demonstrated their capabilities by striking an Israeli Merkava 4 Baz tank in central Rafah, further illustrating the resilience of Palestinian resistance.
Al-Falahi pointed out that the Israeli narrative regarding the weakening of resistance factions does not align with the reality on the ground. He noted that the Al-Janina neighborhood has experienced extensive Israeli incursions since the onset of military operations in Rafah, confirming the active presence of resistance fighters. The military expert praised the determination and fighting spirit of Palestinian forces, highlighting their ability to engage Israeli troops at close range, which underscores their tactical effectiveness in the face of overwhelming odds.
- The Israeli army had previously claimed that it had dismantled the Rafah Brigade of the Qassam Brigades after a prolonged military operation that began on May 6. They reported the deaths of over 2,000 Hamas members and the destruction of nearly 13 kilometers of tunnels. However, the recent military activities in Rafah suggest that these claims may be overstated, reflecting the ongoing conflict dynamics in the region.
