North Korean Troops Join Russian Forces in Ukraine
The U.S. State Department has confirmed that North Korean soldiers are actively participating in combat operations alongside the Russian army in eastern Russia, particularly in the Kursk region near the Ukrainian border. This revelation has raised significant concerns in Washington regarding the military collaboration between Moscow and Pyongyang. According to Vedant Patel, the deputy spokesman for the State Department, over 10,000 North Korean troops have been deployed to this area, with Ukrainian sources estimating the number to be around 11,000.
The involvement of North Korean soldiers comes as Ukraine intensifies its offensive against Russian forces, which has been ongoing since August. Reports indicate that these troops have received training in artillery, drone operations, and basic infantry skills, aimed at enhancing their effectiveness on the battlefield. Patel emphasized that the integration of North Korean soldiers into Russian military operations is crucial for the success of Russian forces, despite potential challenges such as language barriers.
