Netanyahu's Commitment to Gaza War Intensifies

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reiterated his resolve to continue the war on Gaza until Hamas is eliminated and kidnapped individuals are returned home. Speaking at a military ceremony in the Negev, Netanyahu emphasized that despite the heavy costs, the war would persist until victory is achieved, even if it takes time. He accused Hamas of setting unacceptable conditions and confirmed his commitment to the swap deal proposal with specific red lines, including not halting the war.

Netanyahu also highlighted that the Israeli army would prevent the return of 'saboteurs' to northern Gaza and curb weapons smuggling across the Egyptian border. He expressed gratitude to the families of reserve forces for their support and reaffirmed his dedication to liberating more kidnapped individuals.

Calls for Official Investigation and Criticisms

Defense Minister Yoav Galant has called for the formation of an official investigation committee involving the government, the army, and the security forces to scrutinize the events of October 7 and the rise of Hamas. Galant admitted that the Israeli leadership failed to protect its citizens on that day and emphasized the need for accountability, including investigations into himself, Netanyahu, the Chief of Staff, and the head of the Shin Bet.

Galant noted that Israeli forces have been fighting in Gaza, the northern front, and the West Bank for nine months with high morale to achieve the war's objectives. Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy stressed the long-term impact of the war, stating that it would affect many generations. He underscored the importance of continuing the fight until Hamas leaders are killed and the military infrastructure is destroyed.

In a related development, Knesset member Hili Trooper from the state camp discussed the political dynamics affecting the ceasefire negotiations with Hamas. Trooper acknowledged the faction's withdrawal from the coalition due to disagreements over national considerations and criticized Netanyahu for prioritizing political considerations. Defense Minister Galant also addressed the moral duty to return abductees and called for respectful and responsible criticism of the IDF and its commanders.
