Military Analysis of the Gaza Conflict
Military expert Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi has provided a critical analysis of the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, asserting that the Israeli occupation army is not accurately portraying its actions. He emphasized that while the military claims to be entering a third phase of operations characterized by raids, the reality includes significant civilian casualties. Al-Duwairi highlighted the severe suffering inflicted on Gaza's civilians, which he argues is not reflected in the resistance's response.
Al-Duwairi pointed out that the resistance has developed a new strategy of asymmetric warfare, particularly through tunnel warfare. This approach allows the resistance to conduct operations at specific times and locations, demonstrating their continued capability to engage in conflict even after nearly a year of war. He noted that the resistance is well-stocked with weapons and fighters, with ongoing recruitment efforts.
Furthermore, Al-Duwairi remarked on the role of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which did not participate in the last two wars against Gaza. This strategic choice has allowed Hamas to build up its arsenal, which has proven crucial in the current prolonged conflict. Despite the violence, the resistance continues to target areas in the Gaza Strip and south of Tel Aviv, showcasing its resilience and commitment to the fight. However, Al-Duwairi acknowledged the challenges faced due to the occupation's military positioning far from residential zones, except in areas like Tel al-Sultan, where intense battles have persisted for over three months.
