Thousands of Jordanians Celebrate Martyrs in Amman
On Friday evening, a significant gathering of thousands of Jordanians took place in Amman to commemorate the lives of Amer Qawas and Hussam Abu Ghazaleh, who were involved in a recent operation near the Dead Sea. The event, termed the "wedding of the martyrs," was organized by the Islamic Movement and attracted attendees from various regions of Jordan. Participants expressed their condolences and pride, emphasizing the sacrifices made by the martyrs in defense of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The atmosphere was charged with emotion as demonstrators carried the father of Amer Qawas on their shoulders, chanting praises for the martyrs. Nasser Qawas, the father, articulated his pride, stating that his son's blood was equally valuable to that of the Palestinian people. The event served not only as a memorial but also as a rallying point for political sentiments within Jordan, particularly among supporters of the Islamic Action Front Party, the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Calls for Political Action and Solidarity
The Islamic Action Front Party endorsed the recent operation at the Dead Sea and urged the Jordanian government to reassess its agreements with Israel. They called for strengthening the internal front and preparing Jordanian youth to support the national army against perceived threats from Israel. Moaz Al-Khawaldeh, a spokesperson for the Muslim Brotherhood, emphasized that the Jordanian people are not mere spectators in the conflict but are active participants in the struggle for Palestine.
This gathering comes in the wake of an incident where two Israeli soldiers were injured by gunfire from assailants who had crossed over from Jordan. The Israeli military confirmed that two attackers were killed, while a third managed to escape back into Jordan. The events highlight the ongoing tensions in the region and the complex relationship between Jordan and Israel, particularly in light of the recent escalations in Gaza.
