Marie Portolano Leaves 'Télématin'
Marie Portolano, the co-host of the popular France 2 morning show 'Télématin', has decided not to return to her position, as confirmed by Alexandre Kara, the information director of France Télévisions. Portolano, who is currently on maternity leave, expressed her desire to evolve professionally, leading to her departure just 10 months after joining the show.
Reasons Behind the Departure
The 38-year-old journalist, who is expecting her third child, found the intense pace of the morning show too demanding. Despite her departure from 'Télématin', Portolano is not leaving the public group entirely and plans to work on several projects upon her return next year. Her decision to leave the show is unrelated to recent accusations about her co-host Thomas Sotto's behavior behind the scenes.
New Faces on 'Télématin'
Currently, Émilie Tran Nguyen is filling in for Portolano during her maternity leave. From the start of the Olympic Games, Louise Ekland will join Thomas Sotto in providing entertainment. However, the permanent replacement for Portolano has been announced as Flavie Flament. Known for her empathy and talent, Flament will take over the co-hosting duties from September. Flament, who recently bid farewell to RTL after nearly 15 years, is currently finalizing her contract with France Télévisions.
- Marie Portolano had a brief but impactful stint on 'Télématin', where she succeeded Julia Vignali. Before joining France 2, she was known for her role in 'The Best Pastry Chef' on M6 and her long tenure in the sports department of Canal+.
- Despite the competition from TF1's newly launched morning show 'Hello!' presented by Bruce Toussaint, 'Télématin' continues to dominate with more than 700,000 daily viewers. The show remains a flagship program for France 2, maintaining its lead over competitors, including the newcomer with around 300,000 daily viewers.
