Major Jalaa Ibrahim: A Legacy of Courage and Sacrifice
The Battle in Gaza and the Druze Community's Contribution
Major Jalaa Ibrahim, a 25-year-old commander from the village of Sajur, tragically fell in battle in the Gaza Strip. Known for his bravery and determination, Ibrahim's efforts were pivotal in the ongoing conflict against Hamas. In an interview last March, he emphasized the importance of their mission inside Gaza, stating, 'We want to destroy Hamas. We didn't enter Gaza to teach it a lesson; we need to make sure it doesn't exist after that.'
Ibrahim detailed the extensive infrastructure and weapon depots hidden within Gaza, describing the area as 'huge' and filled with 'mined houses, mosques, shafts, pits, schools.' Despite the difficult and prolonged battle, he assured that every piece of discovered infrastructure was destroyed to ensure the defeat of Hamas.
Ibrahim's family has a long history of service and sacrifice. His grandfather, Maziyad Ibrahim, was killed in 1967 in a battle with terrorists near Tulkarm and was posthumously awarded the Police Medal of Honor. Following in his grandfather's footsteps, Jalaa's family continues to serve in various security roles, with three of his brothers currently in Gaza and his nephews also in combat positions.
The village of Sajur, which has lost 13 of its sons in Israeli attacks, mourns the loss of Major Jalaa Ibrahim. The head of the Sajur council, Hamud, highlighted the community's ongoing contributions and sacrifices, expressing disappointment in the government's limited support for Druze communities. 'We don't need to prove our loyalty to the State of Israel; it's time for the state to show loyalty to the Druze community,' he stated.
