Reassurance Amidst Crisis: Lebanon's Leadership Responds to Recent Attacks

Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati has taken significant steps to address the recent violence that has shaken the nation. In a statement on Wednesday, Mikati reassured the public that the influx of wounded individuals to hospitals has ceased, following a series of bombings targeting communication devices throughout the country. He emphasized that the second wave of attacks has ended, and there are currently no new injuries. Mikati's government is committed to preventing further conflict and maintaining peace in Lebanon.

During a meeting with key officials, including Minister Nasser Yassin and Major General Mohammad Mustafa, Mikati discussed the results of the National Crisis and Disaster Coordination Committee's recent meeting. He expressed gratitude to countries that have shown solidarity with Lebanon during these challenging times and praised the national unity that emerged in response to the Israeli aggression.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib condemned Israel's actions as a blatant violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and international law. He warned that such attacks could lead to a significant escalation of violence in the region. The Foreign Minister called on the United Nations to intervene and pressure Israel to halt its military actions.

In a related statement, Hashem Safieddine, head of Hezbollah's executive council, declared that Lebanon is entering a new phase of aggression, promising that the resistance will remain strong and unwavering. Meanwhile, Health Minister Firas Abiad reported a rising death toll from the bombings, which now stands at 12, including two children. The attacks resulted in thousands of injuries, with hospitals treating approximately 2,800 wounded individuals within a short span of time. Medical aid is being sent from various countries to assist in the crisis.

As Lebanon navigates this tumultuous period, the government and its leaders are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens, striving to maintain peace and stability in the face of external threats.
