Jordan's Support for Syria's Transitional Process
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi recently held significant discussions with Ahmed al-Sharaa, the commander-in-chief of Syria's new administration, in Damascus. During these talks, Safadi emphasized Jordan's commitment to supporting Syria's transitional process, which includes drafting a new constitution and establishing a political system that reflects the aspirations of the Syrian people. Safadi conveyed a message of solidarity from Jordan, highlighting the importance of Syrian-Jordanian relations and the mutual goal of creating a safe and equal homeland for all Syrians.
Safadi stated, "We discussed the necessity of building a free homeland free of terrorism that protects the rights of all Syrians," underscoring the collaborative approach both nations are taking to combat terrorism. He noted that mechanisms would be established to address issues that aid Syria in becoming secure and stable, ultimately facilitating the return of refugees.
Regional Diplomatic Engagements
In addition to Safadi's visit, the diplomatic landscape surrounding Syria is witnessing increased activity. Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed Al-Khulaifi has commenced a visit to Damascus, leading a high-level delegation for discussions with Syrian officials. This follows a series of meetings involving Ahmed al-Sharaa with foreign ministers from Turkey and Saudi Arabia, as well as a Lebanese delegation led by Walid Jumblatt. These diplomatic efforts reflect a growing regional and international interest in Syria's political restructuring and security institution reform, signaling a potential shift in the geopolitical dynamics of the Middle East.
