Jenin Mayor Nidal Obeidi has described the extensive destruction caused by the Israeli occupation army as akin to an earthquake, estimating damages at around 500 million shekels ($135.2 million). The destruction has severely impacted the infrastructure, including water and communication lines, as well as electricity transformers.
The military operation, ongoing for five days, has paralyzed public and economic life in Jenin, creating dire conditions for residents. The Palestinian Monetary Authority reported disruptions in banking services due to the destruction of fiber lines providing internet services, while communication networks have also been severely affected.
In conjunction with the military actions in Gaza, the Israeli army's operations in the West Bank have resulted in significant casualties, with reports of 676 Palestinians, including 150 children, killed since the escalation began. The humanitarian situation continues to worsen, exacerbated by the ongoing violence and destruction.
