Today, Israeli settlers stormed the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, while Israeli forces conducted a widespread arrest campaign across the occupied West Bank. Eyewitnesses reported that groups of settlers entered the mosque, performing provocative rituals under heavy police protection, despite ongoing opposition from the Islamic Waqf Department, which has called for an end to these incursions since 2003.
In the West Bank, Israeli forces arrested three Palestinians from the Ein Sultan and Aqabat Jaber camps in Jericho, including Shaher Abu Sharar, a freed prisoner. The director of the Prisoners Club in Jericho, Eid Brahma, reported that the forces also raided homes in the camps, causing significant damage.
Further arrests occurred in Nablus and Tulkarm, where Israeli forces detained a young man from Rojib and two citizens from Qaffin, respectively. These actions are part of a broader pattern of violence against Palestinians, which has escalated since October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of 813 Palestinians and injuries to approximately 6,450 others. Over 12,000 Palestinians have been arrested during this period.
The situation is compounded by the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where Israeli military operations continue to draw international scrutiny. Notably, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.
