Escalation of Conflict: Israeli Raids on Hezbollah Targets in Lebanon
Recent clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah have intensified, marked by a series of military actions across Lebanon and northern Israel. Hezbollah's operations included a barrage of rockets aimed at Israeli forces stationed at the Fatima Gate along the border, along with missile strikes on military installations near Haifa and gatherings of Israeli soldiers in Malkiya and Karmiel. The Israeli army confirmed that approximately 75 rockets were fired from Lebanon during the latest escalation, prompting the Iron Dome defense system to intercept around 30 of them.
The violence has led to injuries and fatalities, with reports indicating that two individuals were injured in Israel due to shrapnel from a drone attack that struck the Baz factory in Karmiel. Additionally, a missile hit a residential area in Tamra, resulting in serious injuries to a woman and damage to vehicles in the vicinity.
In response to the escalating violence, the Israeli military has urged residents in 14 towns in southern Lebanon to evacuate north of the Awali River. Israeli airstrikes have also targeted Hezbollah positions, including a drone launch site and a weapons storage facility in Beirut, leading to significant loss of life among Hezbollah militants, with reports suggesting around 70 casualties.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that at least five people were killed and 13 others injured in an Israeli raid on Sidon, raising concerns about civilian safety amidst the ongoing conflict. Israeli sources have confirmed the deaths of four soldiers in southern Lebanon, bringing the total number of Israeli military fatalities in the region to 14 over the past two days.
