Escalation of Violence in the West Bank
Israeli occupation forces conducted extensive raids across the occupied West Bank early on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, targeting cities such as Bethlehem and Hebron. Reports indicate that military vehicles were deployed, and live ammunition was used against Palestinians during these operations. In the northern region, particularly in Silat al-Dahr near Jenin, clashes erupted between resistance fighters and Israeli forces. The situation escalated further in Al-Khader, where the military besieged the town in pursuit of suspects involved in a recent attack on soldiers.
The violence is compounded by a series of settler attacks, with one incident resulting in a Palestinian being stabbed near Bethlehem. This follows a pattern of increased aggression from settlers, including stone-throwing attacks on Palestinian vehicles in Burqa, east of Ramallah. Settlers also reportedly obstructed farmers in Khirbet Yanun from harvesting olives, and a significant number of vehicles were burned in Al-Bireh last week.
According to the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, there were 1,490 documented attacks by Israeli forces and settlers in October alone, with significant destruction of Palestinian property and agriculture. The ongoing violence has resulted in considerable casualties among Palestinians, with official data reporting 780 deaths and over 6,300 injuries since the escalation of conflict on October 7, 2023.
