Platforms Condemn Israeli Attacks on Yemen, Reaffirm Support for Palestine
In a recent escalation of conflict, the Israeli army announced airstrikes targeting what it labeled military installations in Yemen, including power plants and a seaport. This announcement has ignited a wave of reactions across social media platforms, showcasing a collective condemnation of the attacks and a strong reaffirmation of support for the Palestinian cause.
According to reports from media outlets associated with the Ansar Allah group, commonly known as the Houthis, the Israeli strikes specifically targeted the port of Hodeidah and oil storage facilities at Ras Issa. The attacks reportedly resulted in at least four fatalities and approximately 40 injuries, as reported by the Houthi-affiliated Ministry of Health.
Social media has been buzzing with reactions from activists and users alike. Many expressed unwavering solidarity with Palestine, despite the ongoing violence. Twitter user Jalal al-Din articulated a defiant sentiment, stating, “This will only increase our determination and resolve to complete the path we have begun, which will inevitably lead us to victory.”
Activist Yasser echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that support for Palestine would continue regardless of the challenges faced. He stated, “We will not stop supporting Palestine no matter the price and challenges.” Conversely, some users criticized the lack of military response from the Houthis, questioning why no defensive measures were taken against the Israeli forces.
Mohammed Al-Mansouri, another activist, highlighted the broader implications of the attacks on Yemeni infrastructure, insisting that the port of Hodeidah and its facilities belong to the Yemeni people, not just the Houthis. He urged Israel to cease its strikes, asserting that silence in the face of such destruction is unacceptable.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the military actions, stating, “The army has struck our enemies in Yemen again. Everyone sees the range, everyone sees the fire above the targets, and everyone sees the price paid by those who attack us.” Meanwhile, Mohammed Abdul Salam, spokesman for the Ansar Allah group, condemned the attacks as an aggression against civilian infrastructure, reiterating that such actions would not deter Yemen’s support for Gaza.
