(CNN) -- The Israeli military said about 100 of its fighter jets “attacked and destroyed thousands of Hezbollah's rocket guns” at dozens of launch sites from Lebanon on Sunday.
Israel said it launched what it called pre-emptive strikes against “terrorist targets in Lebanon” after identifying that the militant group Hezbollah was “preparing to fire missiles and rockets into Israeli territory.”
Shortly after the Israeli strikes began, Hezbollah said it had launched attacks toward Israel in an intense exchange of fire amid fighting in the Middle East that threatens to send the region into all-out conflict.
