Intensified Bombing in Rafah and Jabalia Amid Ongoing Conflict
The Israeli military has escalated its bombardment of residential buildings in Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip, resulting in numerous casualties. Reports indicate that the attacks have particularly targeted the Al-Janina neighborhood, with flares illuminating the area as the violence continues. The Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported that the recent airstrikes have led to the deaths of 44 individuals and injuries to 74 others within a 24-hour period, contributing to a staggering total of 44,708 fatalities and over 106,050 injuries since the onset of hostilities on October 7.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens as Medical Facilities Come Under Fire
The situation in Gaza is dire, with hospitals facing severe shortages of medical supplies and essential resources. The Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza was struck by artillery, injuring six patients, while Kamal Adwan Hospital has reported a complete cutoff of water and oxygen supplies due to ongoing bombardments. Dr. Ahmed Al-Farra, Director of Al-Tahrir Hospital, highlighted a critical shortage of baby milk, which has not been allowed into the area for three months, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis for infants and children.
Resistance Forces Target Israeli Military Assets
In response to the ongoing attacks, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, have intensified their operations against Israeli forces. They successfully targeted an Israeli Merkava 4 tank and destroyed an armored personnel carrier in Rafah, claiming to have inflicted casualties on the crew. Additionally, the Al-Quds Brigades reported shelling Israeli military positions in the Al-Janina neighborhood, indicating a continued resistance amidst the escalating conflict.
