Indira Ampiot, the reigning Miss France 2023, captivated audiences during the preliminary competition of Miss Universe 2024 held in Mexico City. On the night of November 15, she showcased a stunning national costume that paid homage to the French flag, incorporating iconic symbols of France such as the cockade, rooster, and beret. The outfit, designed by Vanessa Boimond of the Manzèl brand, featured a rhinestone-embellished bustier and a flowing train in blue, white, and red, reflecting the colors of the French flag.
Ampiot shared her design inspiration on Instagram, stating, "I wanted to bring together the symbols of France in a sparkling universe." The costume was revealed in a video filmed at the Théâtre national de l'Opéra-comique in Paris, highlighting her dedication to representing her country.
A Memorable Performance Despite Costume Mishap
During the preliminary show, which included 135 contestants, Ampiot faced a minor setback when her heel got caught in her costume's skirt while walking on stage. Despite this hiccup, she maintained her composure, humorously acknowledging the incident on her Instagram story. "I knew it was going to happen," she said, reflecting her positive attitude. The audience responded with encouragement, appreciating her grace under pressure.
