Indian Man Arrested for Running Fake Court for Five Years
In a shocking revelation, Indian authorities have arrested Maurice Samuel Christian, a 37-year-old man who impersonated a judge and operated a fake court in the Gandhi Nagar area of Gujarat for five years. The scam, which began in 2019, involved Christian renting an office designed to resemble a legitimate courtroom and hiring assistants to pose as court staff. He exploited the trust of numerous victims by issuing false rulings in land disputes, charging exorbitant fees for his services.
Christian's fraudulent activities included using a gavel to issue fake court orders, including transferring government lands to private entities for the benefit of his clients. His operations went undetected until the registrar of the Ahmedabad Civil Court, Hardik Desai, noticed discrepancies in the documents submitted by Christian. This prompted an investigation that led to his arrest, with charges filed under Sections 170 and 419 of the Indian Penal Code for impersonation and fraud.
The case has garnered significant attention on social media, with users expressing disbelief over how Christian managed to deceive authorities for such an extended period. Prior to this incident, he had also faced fraud charges in 2015, raising questions about how he was able to continue his deceptive practices without being caught sooner.
