Hezbollah Intensifies Attacks on Israel Amid Ongoing Conflict
Hezbollah has escalated its military operations against Israel, marking a significant increase in hostilities as the Israeli army reports casualties and injuries among its troops. On November 20, 2024, the Israeli military confirmed the death of a soldier from the Golani Brigade due to a suicide drone attack, which also left three others seriously injured. This incident is part of a broader pattern of violence that has seen the Israeli army sustain over a thousand injuries since the commencement of ground operations in southern Lebanon in early October.
Israeli media reported that multiple drones launched from Lebanon infiltrated Israeli airspace, triggering alarms in various northern towns, including Haifa Bay and the Galilee. One drone reportedly crashed into an army camp in the Western Galilee, causing damage to a synagogue and other structures. The Israeli army has responded with airstrikes on several towns in southern Lebanon, including Hanin and Qana, as part of its ongoing military campaign against Hezbollah.
Casualties and Regional Impact
The conflict has resulted in significant casualties on both sides. Hezbollah claims to have inflicted substantial losses on Israeli forces, with reports of over 110 Israeli soldiers killed and numerous military vehicles destroyed. The group asserts it has conducted approximately 350 operations against Israeli forces since the ground incursion began. In retaliation, the Israeli army continues to engage in airstrikes and ground operations aimed at diminishing Hezbollah's capabilities.
The Lebanese army has also suffered losses, with three soldiers killed in an Israeli raid on a military center in Sarafand, and 17 others injured. The United Nations peacekeeping forces in the region, known as UNIFIL, reported injuries among its personnel due to the ongoing hostilities. The situation remains tense, with international efforts to broker a ceasefire proving unsuccessful, leading to a humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, where over 3,500 people have died and more than 15,000 have been injured since the conflict escalated.
