Al-Maqadma Missile: A New Threat to Tel Aviv
The recent bombardment of Tel Aviv by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. On October 7, 2024, the group launched a barrage of M90 rockets, including the locally manufactured Al-Maqadma missile, which officially entered service during the Battle of Tufan Al-Aqsa in 2023. Named after Commander Ibrahim Al-Maqadma, this missile is designed for maximum impact, featuring a 50-kilogram warhead capable of causing extensive destruction.
The Al-Maqadma missile is 6 meters long and requires a team of at least eight individuals for its transportation and launch. With a maximum effective range of 90 kilometers, it poses a substantial threat not only to Tel Aviv but also to surrounding regions. Israeli media reports indicate that the military's failure to intercept the attack highlights the ongoing challenges in diminishing Hamas's operational capabilities. This incident follows a previous attack on August 13, when Qassam also targeted Tel Aviv with M90 rockets, demonstrating the group's sustained ability to strike deep into Israeli territory.
