Gunfire Strikes Celebrations: Young Men Injured in Separate Shooting Incidents in Italy and France

Images from the reference sources
Two separate shooting incidents involving young men in Italy and France highlight rising gun violence and gang-related conflicts, raising concerns about public safety during celebrations.

A boy of around 20 years old was grazed in the calf by a stray bullet last night while he was on the beach in Campo di Mare, San Pietro Vernotico marina, in the province of Brindisi. His condition is not serious and he has already been discharged after tests in the emergency room. The police are investigating the case and have acquired the testimonies of those present.

There were over 20 people on the beach last night to celebrate August 15th: many heard the gunshots. The military has not ruled out the hypothesis that someone fired shots to 'celebrate' the night of August 15th.

In another incident, a young man in his twenties was shot and injured on the night of August 14 to Thursday August 15 in Grenoble (Isère), confirmed Éric Vaillant, the Grenoble public prosecutor. The victim was shot in the hand and thigh at Place Saint-Bruno, a known drug dealing area in downtown Grenoble.

This incident is part of an ongoing crisis in Grenoble characterized by an 'intense gang war', with almost daily shootings reported. The young man, who left the scene before law enforcement arrived, did not wish to file a complaint.

An investigation has been opened, with two suspects arrested for delivering weapons and another individual caught with a firearm. The prosecutor emphasized that law enforcement remains fully engaged in combating drug-related violence.
