Attack on Armoured Van in Grenoble

In a shocking incident this Thursday morning, an armoured cash-in-transit van was attacked with firearms in the city centre of Grenoble. The attack occurred near the train station around 10:30 AM, resulting in two individuals being slightly injured due to related road accidents. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported. The perpetrators of this violent crime are currently on the run, prompting an investigation by the organised and specialised crime division (DCOS). Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant as they conduct their search for the suspects.

Severe Weather and Flooding in France

As the nation grapples with the aftermath of the Kirk depression, nearly 65,000 homes across France have been left without electricity. The storm, which hit the country on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, has caused significant flooding, particularly in the Seine-et-Marne department, which has been placed on red alert by Météo France. The Grand Morin valley is experiencing severe overflow, with the river expected to reach peak flood levels of 3.50 meters around noon. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to steer clear of submerged roads and bridges.

In addition to these events, the government has unveiled its draft budget for 2025, which has sparked controversy. Manuel Bompard, coordinator of La France insoumise, condemned the budget as the “most violent austerity plan that France has ever known,” highlighting a proposed cut of 60 billion euros, or 2% of GDP. Meanwhile, on the roads of Paris, motorists must now adhere to a new speed limit of 50 km/h across the entire ring road, a move aimed at reducing air and noise pollution.
