The French Fraud Control Agency has intensified inspections ahead of the Olympic Games, uncovering over 800 violations across hotels and restaurants. Discover the implications for consumer protection and compliance standards.

The French Fraud Control Agency (DGCCRF) has intensified its inspections of commercial establishments in Paris ahead of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. With over 800 establishments identified for serious breaches, the agency has conducted nearly 16,000 inspections since the start of the year. This proactive approach aims to ensure compliance in hotels, restaurants, and transport services, as well as to protect consumers from misleading claims.

Of the establishments inspected, 53% exhibited anomalies, with 6% facing serious violations, particularly in the hospitality sector regarding incorrect star rankings. The DGCCRF emphasizes the importance of maintaining service standards post-ranking and is vigilant against misleading claims in restaurants about product origins.

The agency has mobilized 900 agents to oversee these inspections, which have doubled compared to previous years. This includes monitoring digital platforms related to ticket sales and ensuring safety in products sold, with numerous reports documented on the SignalConso platform.
