The filming of the historical series 'Taganrog,' depicting WWII partisans in the Rostov region, has been completed, aiming to honor the legacy of those who resisted fascist invaders.

Completion of Filming for Historical Series 'Taganrog'

Filming for the eight-part military-historical series "Taganrog," which portrays the resistance of partisans against fascist invaders during 1941-1943 in the Rostov region, has concluded in St. Petersburg. Produced by "Triix Media" in collaboration with "Gazprom-Media Holding" and the Institute for Internet Development (ANO "IRI"), the series aims to honor the memory of heroes who fought against oppression.

Historical Authenticity and Research

The project, directed by Armen Nazikyan, features a script by Maria Oshmyanskaya and Alexander Ivanov, who previously collaborated on the series "Nevsky." The narrative is grounded in historical evidence, particularly focusing on the Reich's plans for mass extermination of the Soviet population. Young historians from the Rostov region played a crucial role in unearthing archival documents that informed the storyline. Filming took place not only in St. Petersburg but also in the Leningrad and Rostov regions, culminating in location shoots in Taganrog itself.

A Tribute to the Heroes of the Past

The series centers around Viktor Shvets, a state security officer portrayed by Denis Donskoy, who infiltrates the occupation administration to lead underground resistance efforts. As the underground movement grows, they engage in various operations, including the liberation of Soviet prisoners of war. Despite facing brutal reprisals from the Gestapo, the spirit of resistance remains unbroken among the citizens of Taganrog. The project, driven by military historian Andrey Kudryakov, emphasizes the importance of historical accuracy, with consultations from experts and veterans ensuring a respectful portrayal of the events. The lead actors expressed their commitment to honoring the legacy of those who fought during this tumultuous period.
